about

HAWN’s second offering. Something of a synth-pop album, which also functions as a work of social theater, whose actors—menaced and menacing victims of all kinds of violence—plod through a beautiful and terrifying aural terrain, singing songs of personal damnation and small triumph. They’re aided musically by the strains of decrepit club beats, broken poker machines, flatlining EKGs, New-Age meditation soundtracks, and greasy gales of wind. Cold and aloof on its surface, grieving in its substratum, with a core of molten anger, Badmans offers a radically negative vision of the contemporary world.
